Glarien of White Ash #1: a fantasy series for mature readers

Happy Monday, White Ashians/ Glarien fans,

This campaign continues to barrel along. One week in and we’re on the precipice of (already) Glarien being our most successful campaign ever. So thank you, so much.  The incredible Yasmin Montanez is hard at work on a print for you all to really show our appreciation.  If you don't know Yasmin, you will very soon.  She's a talent to be reckoned with and is going to be on a lot of high profile books soon. We should have a reveal of her print very shortly...

And as we close in on Stretch Goal #5 Cover Upgrade, we wanted to give you all a little more information on that. We’ve spoken with our printers and if we can hit $36,500, we’ll be adding a nice spot UV finish to to the main Romina Moranelli cover for Glarien. Having seen what they can do with this effect, we feel confident that they can knock this out of the park.

We’re also getting a couple other stretch goals ready just in case this campaign continues to fly along. Really, we can’t tell you how much your support means to us. For Glarien to be this successful, so quickly, continues to leave us in a state of awe.  So thank you.

And because we are huge believers in the Kickstarter community and passing it on, we want to highlight a couple of other projects that we’d love for you to check out. Starting with…

Chronicles of the Immortal Swordsmen #1

Charlie here. We teased this one over the weekend. It just launched on Kickstarter today. This book is set in the same universe as The Adept (a series I'm co-writing with Tasha Huo). If you enjoyed that one, I strongly recommend you check this out and grab an early-bird special while they’re still live.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have The Miracles that only has 62 HOURS LEFT to go in their campaign.

Joe could use some help getting this one across the finish line.  I love the tagline on this book, All families have secrets. The Morgans' is just a little bit more astonishing than yours. He's got some great stuff on his campaign page so I recommend you take a look. 

And finally, I’d like to say we’ve come full circle, but the circle is broken… 

Who doesn’t like to see private school kids having to battle zombies. Dave Dwonch certainly understands that need and has given us plenty to chew on (At least what’s left after the Zombies are done). Picking up where Prom of the Dead, left off, Broken Circle is a campaign you should all check out.

4 Stretch Goals Down, so we're rolling out TWO MORE!!!

Wow, Hello White Ashians/ Glarien fans,

You just demolished our final planned Stretch Goal. We’ve just unlocked an all-new, digital Glarien short story that will be added to the haul you’re already taking home. This one will be drawn by the incredible Emily Pearson.

Emily has done work for Vault, Black Mask, Scout, Action Lab and numerous others. We’re thrilled she’s going to be joining us to help flesh out Glarien’s illustrious past.

Speaking of stretch goals, here’s the more updated design for the Glarien Sticker you’ve already unlocked. Well, actually, here are three different variations on the design. We’d like to hear from you as to which one you’d like.

Hello White Ashians/ Glarien fans,

Okay, now that we've had a breather... Thank you so much for joining us and absolutely DESTROYING any reasonable expectations of how this campaign was going to go. Yesterday was INSANE and overwhelming. Normally, with a kickstarter, there’s always a little buzz of nervousness as to how funding will go. Except this time, there wasn’t really a chance for that buzz to get started. An hour after we launched we were funded and we knew something incredible was happening. And that was all thanks to you.

The response to Glarien has been everything we could have hoped for and so much more. We’re going to do everything we can to live up to those expectations and give you back not only the best comic possible, but as many extra rewards along the way that we can fit in.

That’s right, not only are we on to stretch goals, but we’ve already busted through the first three. So let me get right to it and tell you what we’re already adding to the campaign.

Stretch Goal #1 ($15,000) Thank you, thank you very much UNLOCKED

Every physical blacker will receive a 6x9, custom Glarien Pin-up, commemorating the campaign reaching its funding goal. The piece has been commissioned, and as soon as it’s finished, we’ll be revealing the piece and the artist.

Stretch Goal #2 ($20,000) Stuck though you UNLOCKED

Every physical backer will be receiving a contour-cut sticker based on Glarien as she’s featured here on the cover of the Scout one-shot.

Had we not blasted through these Stretch Goals so quickly, we would have a more complete design to share. But that will be coming very shortly.

Stretch Goal #3 ($25,000) Step by Step UNLOCKED

This one is for all the process junkies. Every backer will receive a behind-the-scenes PDF showing the different stages of 16 curated pages from Glarien as they go from script, to layout, to inks and finally to color.

And as we’ve unlocked #3, it’s time to reveal #4

Stretch Goal #4 ( $30,000) Might I Have Some More, Sir REVEALED

If we can hit the 30K, we will be commissioning ANOTHER short Glarien story that will be given out as a digital PDF to EVERY backer.

And if we hit that lofty goal… there is more on tap. So please keep spreading the word and we'll keep rolling out the rewards.  

Speaking of giving you back more for your support, let’s talk discounts. As some of you know, Scout Comics released a Glarien one-shot last week. That one shot is comprised of the three short stories that every backer of this campaign is getting digitally.

However, IF you’d like a copy of the physical one-shot, and your local comic shop doesn’t carry it, we will have a few copies of the various covers available as add-ons post-campaign through BackerKit. You can also order the one-shot through Scout Comics. And as backers of this campaign we’re giving you a discount code that’s good on Glarien, or any other comic, trade or slabbed comic on the Scout website.

Just enter the code GLARIEN (all caps) when you check out, and the discount will take affect. This is a thank you from us, that I got Scout to agree to, that’s going to be live for the entire duration of the campaign.

The first comes from Karla Nappi who’s funding the Dystopian Biopunk Thriller, Duplicant.

This is a really pretty book with a haunting theme that’s very timely considering the world we’re all living in. Karla has been a huge supporter of Glarien and White Ash. We’d love to throw some of that support back her way, so please check it out.

In a much lighter/ funnier vein… but equally horrifying, Clay Adams is live with Deadskins.

This book, like a lot of Clay’s work, walks the line between making you feel dirty about laughing… and laughing because you feel dirty. Seriously though, Deadskins billed as Blazing Saddles meets The Walking Dead, lives up to its billing. Please check out the book AND the project video (if just to get a chuckle at Clay’s ridiculous mustache).

And finally, just launching today from Russell Nohelty is Ichabod Jones.

I wanted to post this today because Russell always packs his campaigns with incredible, exclusive give aways for day one backers. (So go NOW) And aside from that, the series, like most of the insanity that comes from Russell’s head is absurdly entertaining.  So please take a look.
